The coronavirus lockdown has restricted all of us inside our homes . Sure the household chores have increased and the daily work from home routine has been taking a toll on all of us. But, life doesn’t have to be mundane at home .
You can steal some time out and start painting.
Yes, painting !!
No, you are not an Artist (I am assuming) neither am I but trust me you will start to relive your childhood days when you lift that paintbrush again , without worrying about that perfect stroke , straight lines , no art teacher to rate your art or find faults. Just you trying your own thing.
You don’t need to be a talented artist to engage in art therapy or to enjoy its benefits. The goal is not to create a masterpiece but to express yourself freely through art. The artistic results are secondary to the emotional benefits.
I Tried my hands on it… too ;)
Few weeks ago, I was randomly surfing around the internet till I found a woman teaching ‘how to paint' in the most easiest way. This urged me try my hands on it as well, I quickly looked around for some art supplies , Amazon being a big help during these times . Ordered some paints ,brushes and drawing book which I got from the nearest stationary store for starters and just started playing around with it.
Here is the link of my Purchase from Amazon:
Trust me ! It was one of the most satisfying things I have ever done in the lockdown so far.
Even though the strokes were not perfect , lines were crooked but I felt a sense of accomplishment after finishing it. That is why I wanted to share this experience here with you guys. You don’t need fancy stuff to start , you can always grab some newspaper old bedsheet lying around your house and start painting on it. Start painting or drawing your emotions, like how are you feeling and put that feeling into the paper. Sometimes you can also draw or put whatever worries you in your life or paint something you have lost very close to you.You can paint while listening to music, honestly when art and music are paired together our body gets so relaxed and peace.
It is the most therapeutic experience one can have admist all the chaos that is going on. It is also a scientifically proven fact that art can help enhance focus , help heal mental health , relieves stress and in turn relaxes the body and mind.
So, even if u have loads of work to do, find a few minutes and start doodling , drawing, sketching your thoughts out. I have tried and tested it myself and would recommend everyone reading to do it as well.
Do it for yourself and MAKE YOURSELF CAREFREE.
